This section contains information for students going abroad that are not taking part in York Exchange or the York International Internship Program. These two York administered programs have separate funding information on their separate webpages. Also included below is information on fellowships which graduate students may be eligible for. There are many other options for funding your international adventure, the ones on this page are just a start.

Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) (fellowship)

Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) is a non-denominational, non-profit international development agency that promotes sustainable and equitable social development in low-income countries in Asia and Africa. They offer several fellowships aimed at youth and young professionals.

Canadian Government Scholarships Website (scholarships)

2008 Competition - Scholarships for Canadians: Scholarship funds available for Canadians to study in the UK, New Zealand France and other countries under the Commonwealth Scholarship Plan and the Foreign Government Awards Program. Upcoming deadlines are listed below. For a full list of plans and programs, visit the website link above.

Canadian-Scandinavian Foundation (study grants)

The Canadian Scandinavian Foundation offers a limited number of study grants for students who will be undertaking a period of study in the Scandanavian countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). More information and applications are available on the Canadian-Scandinavian Foundation website.

France - Graduate Scholarships

The Scientific Service of the French Embassy has launched a new scholarship program for Canadian students outside Quebec at the Master's level.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) (scholarships, study grants)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships and study grants for highly qualified undergraduates and graduate students who wish to undertake a period of study in Germany.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Awards (various fellowships and grants)

IDRC funds and administers a number of award programs in the field of international development.

J. Armand Bombardier Internationalist Fellowships (fellowship)

The J. Armand Bombardier Internationalist Fellowships Program is unique in responding to the need of Canadians to develop their international awareness; its openness to all countries and all disciplines; as well as its objective to increase Canada's participation in the world economy. Applicants to the program must show promise of becoming Canada's leaders of tomorrow in their chosen field of endeavour. Open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who hold at least one university degree or are in the final year of a degree program.

Lucent Global Scholars Program (scholarship for first-year students)

A scholarship for full-time first-year students in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering with a strong computer science interest to receive a one-time award of US$5,000 and an expense-paid trip to visit Lucent/Bell Labs Global Headquarters in Murray Hill, New Jersey to attend the "Lucent Global Science Scholars Summit" in July, along with other competition winners from around the world.

OAS Fellowship Program (fellowship)

The Organization of American States (OAS) offers educational programs and fellowships that are of particular interest to students, academics and educational institutions that further its objectives of cooperation and development in its member states.

Rotary International Scholarships (scholarships)

Rotary International offers a variety of scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. More information about their programs can be found on their website.
